Deena Ramadan
CURATOR
Deena Ramadan is an interdisciplinary artist, scholar, and activist. Her mediums include digital and analog photography, videography, and graphic design. She serves as Assistant Director for the MS Taman Foundation, a non-profit that provides grants and scholarships. She has a Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University with a focus in Africana, Film, and Women’s studies. She is a 2021 Transformative Leadership Fellow with the National Network for Arab American Communities. In 2022, her photography exhibition was featured in a gallery as part of an Artist’s residency at the Visual Arts Center in Richmond, VA. She currently serves as the Education Coordinator at the Arab Film and Media Institute and is an M.F.A. candidate in Filmmaking at Georgia State University.

Nailah Taman
DESIGNER
Nailah Taman is a queer Egyptian American multidisciplinary artist + cultural worker based in Minneapolis, MN. They graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2015 with a BA in Visual Arts. They are an artist with Studio 400, Public Functionary's emerging BIPOC artist studio program. They are an avid collector of objects deemed precious by their own criteria.

Ghada Ghazal
TRANSLATOR
Ghada Ghazal is an educator from Syria but has lived outside her country since 2012 due to the violence. In Syria, she taught Islam and Arabic at the Al-Anduluse Institute for Islamic Studies. She has spoken and facilitated groups in the field of inter-religious and intercultural dialogues, as well as many aspects of Islam including Islamic thought, women in Islam, spirituality, the Qur’an, and other topics, around the world. She also serves often as an Arabic-English interpreter. Ghada works towards a future where the values and beliefs of all women are brought to bear in all levels of policy and decision making, and where the voices of women are equally valued and represented.

Emad Ramadan
RESEARCHER
Emad Ramadan is an attorney from Egypt who specializes in human rights. He was the Chairman of the Board of the Egyptian Democratic Institute (EDI) in Cairo. He attended Cairo University’s School of Law from 1992 to 1996 where he founded the Free Thinking Club. He was a member of the Wafd Party and Secretary of its Youth Committee in Giza and he was president of the Wafd Committee of Bolak Al Dakrour. He also worked for the Egyptian Association for Supporting Democracy. He has appeared many times on Egyptian and Arab media as a human rights advocate. He encountered opposition by the Egyptian government for his human rights activism and was detained in jail for 5 months. He has lived in the United States since 2017.
